Several weeks ago, we announced a new phase of COVID-19 monitoring we believe will best protect our team members and communities at large.

We worked alongside experts at Matrix Medical to develop this new strategy that also includes onboarding nearly 200 new nurses and a chief medical officer.

Recently, our SVP, Food Safety and Quality Assurance Scott Brooks and Dr. Daniel Castillo with Matrix Medical sat down to talk about strategic monitoring on the Heartland Daily Podcast.

Among the highlights of the program, they discussed the innovative way our three-pronged approach will help us mitigate the spread of the virus.

“This data-science approach really helps us stay on offense,” Brooks said.

Dr. Castillo noted that while other organizations are doing large-scale testing, “Tyson is really at the front end of this type of data-driven approach.”

And as we’ve piloted the program, we’ve gotten positive feedback.

“It’s been very well received by Tyson employees who really see this as one of the several tools that Tyson and Matrix are using to create a safer workplace,” Dr. Castillo said.

Currently, less than one percent of Tyson Foods’ U.S. workforce has active COVID-19. For more information on what we’re doing to care for Tyson Foods team members, visit https://www.tysonfoods.com/coronavirus.
