In the wake of the devastating earthquake earlier this month in Haiti, Tyson Foods is coming alongside Convoy of Hope to donate multiple loads of shelf-stable food for survivors of the tragedy. Convoy of Hope is distributing the supplies as part of their disaster response.

“Tyson Foods has been a supportive partner in doing good together for more than five years,” said Convoy of Hope’s Bill Whitworth. “They are always willing to help, especially in those critical times following disasters. We simply could not do what we are honored to do without such great and timely support.”

In addition, Tyson Foods plans to run a 2:1 matching campaign among team members that will benefit Convoy of Hope’s response in Haiti.

“Haiti is facing another unimaginable crisis and is in need of global support,” said Senior Director Debra Vernon. “With the efforts of our team members and disaster relief partners, we hope this donation will help ease the tremendous burden so many Haitians are currently experiencing.”

Ongoing donations of food have gone to families in need across the United States through our partnership with Convoy of Hope. We have driven tractor-trailers full of ice — a precious commodity in a disaster zone — to impacted areas in times of crisis. This includes Convoy’s response to Hurricane Dorian in 2019 and survivors in the Bahamas.

“Many of these families lost their homes. Many others had their homes flooded and lost everything,” said Ryan Grabill of Convoy of Hope’s Disaster Response team. “In response to the worst storm the nation of the Bahamas has ever experienced, Tyson responded quickly by providing truckloads of canned chicken worth hundreds of thousands of dollars, which helped to provide crucial protein and nutrition for people in places like Freeport, Grand Bahama, and Abaco.”
