At Tyson Foods, we believe in the power of giving and community support, through Hunger Action Month and beyond. Our commitment to making a positive impact extends beyond our business operations and into the heart of the communities we serve. One of our key initiatives is supporting rural delivery programs and providing agency capacity grants to ensure that we are meeting people where they are, even in the most remote areas.

Bridging the Gap with Rural Delivery Programs

Rural communities often face unique challenges when it comes to accessing essential services and resources. Geographic isolation, limited infrastructure and economic constraints can make it difficult for residents, the disabled and seniors to obtain the food and supplies they need. Tyson Foods recognizes these challenges and has taken proactive steps to bridge the gap through our rural delivery programs.

Thanks to $500,000+ in Tyson Foods-funded grants in our 2025 fiscal year alone, 10 food banks and pantries across six states are launching or expanding their delivery services. Each food bank tailors its home delivery based on its local needs, with many choosing to partner with Project DASH, DoorDash’s mobile pantry delivery service.

These programs are designed to reach the most underserved areas and help to remove transportation barriers so families and individuals have access to nutritious food that they would not have previously received. This initiative not only addresses food insecurity but also supports local economies by creating jobs and fostering collective care for fellow neighbors.

Empowering Communities with Agency Capacity Grants

In addition to our rural delivery program, Tyson Foods is proud to support community-based organizations through agency capacity grants. In the past 3.5 years, more than $475,000 has been given in grants to support the increasing capacity needs of the Northwest Arkansas Food Bank‘s 100+ agency partners. Ultimately, these grants have assisted in feeding more than 80,000 neighbors each year.

Our goal is to empower organizations to expand their reach and enhance their services, ultimately making a lasting impact on the communities they serve. Grant funding has supported purchases such as:

  • Walk-in freezers and refrigerators
  • Convertible refrigerator/freezer combos
  • Shelving racks
  • Laptops and technology
  • Kitchen supplies
  • Refrigerated box trucks
  • Salary funds
  • Awnings

These pass-through dollars enable nonprofit organizations, which are the most knowledgeable about their community, to reallocate funds to their network of agencies based on their varying needs. Moving forward, Tyson Foods plans to expand these investments to other food banks within our operating footprint.

Real Example, Real Impact

Beyond implementing these logistical solutions, we are reflecting our purpose each step of the way. Various parts of our business, as well as our work with many partners, converge into the ideal path necessary to meet the needs of our communities. The success of our rural delivery programs and agency capacity grants can be seen in the real stories of communities that have benefited from our support. For example, from our Randall Road facility in Springdale to the Northwest Arkansas Food Bank in Lowell and onward to Huntsville, Arkansas, we can trace a path that delivers real impact.

*Example steps in the full process are shown, incorporating various locations and initiatives.

Areas surrounding Huntsville, Arkansas, struggled to meet the growing demand for food assistance and lacked the capacity to store, distribute and deliver protein to neighbors in need. Thanks to (1) the product from our Tyson Foods facility in Springdale, (2) our food loss and waste teams’ discounted product sales, (3) our investments with the Northwest Arkansas Food Bank to expand capacity and (4) our delivery program, The Loaves & Fishes Food Pantry at the First Baptist Church of Huntsville benefitted from four distinct initiatives that enabled more protein to be distributed to families in need.

Looking Ahead

Looking to the future, Tyson Foods is dedicated to going the extra mile for rural communities. We prioritize investments in rural delivery programs and build infrastructure for the charitable food network as we identify and address each community’s unique needs. Our investments remain focused on addressing childhood food insecurity, strengthening capacity in rural communities, increasing protein availability in the charitable food system and minimizing food loss and waste. Our efforts are driven by the belief that everyone deserves access to nutritious food and the opportunity to thrive, regardless of where they live. Together, we can go the last mile and ensure that no one is left behind.
