“We can be kind to each other and show people love and compassion and caring just for the sake of that – with no strings attached.”

That’s what Holly Barrón of Edmond, Okla., wants to instill in her kids and all those she and her family reach through their “K Club.” “K,” as you might imagine, stands for kindness. The Club was started by their son Keaton, who tragically passed away at the age of 8 after a battle with acute lymphoblastic leukemia.

The Club mobilizes kindness in many ways, including collecting donations for a pregnancy resource center, hosting fundraisers for cancer patients and research, and helping the homeless.

Fittingly, the Barrón family was recently named America’s Kindest Family 2021 by PARENTS magazine. As part of this award, they were gifted a food donation from the Tyson brand valued at $45,000. The Barróns chose the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma as the recipient of this donation.

“We are so very grateful to the Barrón family for recommending the Tyson brand donation to the Regional Food Bank,” said Stacy Dykstra, CEO of the Regional Food Bank. “This very generous donation will help provide nutritious protein to our fellow Oklahomans facing food insecurity.”

“Kindness matters and the Barrón family is a shining example of how one act of kindness can impact so many others,” Dykstra added. “The donation will provide more than 30,000 meals.”

Holly Barrón added, “We are honored to be a small part of making sure that families in our community get the nutrition they need. This gesture is definitely kindness at its finest, and we hope it blesses thousands of people throughout Oklahoma.”

The Barróns are featured on the November 2021 cover of PARENTS magazine. For more information on how Tyson Foods supports local communities through food donations, visit this page.
