The Merriam-Webster dictionary describes superheroes as “having extraordinary or superhuman powers; also: an exceptionally skillful or successful person.” We could not agree more. Each and every day at Tyson we see super heroes…the frontline team members who work an extra day to ensure our customers have product or the research and development partner that conducts a plant test run overnight so our production lines can continue at full speed during the day or the sales person who calmly listens as the customer expresses their thoughts on our supply interruption.

On Tuesday, April 28 – National Superhero Day – it’s about more than donning a cape and fighting villains. We believe there is still an urgent need to continue generating support for the foodservice industry and those affected by the COVID-19 crisis.

Tyson Foodservice will celebrate National Superhero Day by again joining forces with #TheGreatAmericanTakeout movement. This week we ask Americans to join a nationwide Superhero Salute to recognize everyday superheroes like our first responders, medical workers, grocery store and restaurant employees, teachers and mail carriers. During the Superhero Salute, diners are encouraged to recognize a local hero while sharing their takeout order online.

Eight participants in the Superhero Salute will receive $100 gift cards and the honor of awarding their heroes with a $500 catered meal for their workplace, courtesy of Tyson Foods and The Coca-Cola Company. Nothing goes together quite like dinner and a movie, so 250 additional lucky winners will get to stream the superhero movie of their choice for free, courtesy of the movie lovers’ streaming service Row8.

Throughout the day, Tyson Foodservice will donate $5 for every social media post tagged with #TheGreatAmericanTakeout and #EverydayHero up to $25,000, to the Restaurant Employee Relief Fund. The fund was created by the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation to support U.S. restaurant workers financially impacted by the COVID-19 crisis and to provide aid to restaurant employees nationwide.

Additionally, Tyson Foodservice will honor everyday heroes in select locations by delivering takeout to firefighters, healthcare professionals, grocery store employees and other essential workers and giving restaurant gift cards to several Tyson truck drivers and front-line employees. We aren’t done…we have plans to extend our celebration of everyday heroes with other exciting promotions.

Thank you for being our #EverydayHero. It takes a TEAM of superheroes to show the world how much good food can do, and we are glad you are part of our team.
