At the beginning of September, the company announced its commitment to donate 2.5 million pounds of protein, the equivalent of protein for 10 million meals, to alleviate hunger. We knew it was a lofty goal, but one we were driven to meet to help communities across America. We are proud to say that Tyson Foods has surpassed our anticipated donation, totaling 3.1 million pounds of protein donated in September!

The bulk of these donations went to our longtime partner, Feeding America, and their network of food banks across the country. Other donations went to community pantry partners or other feeding agencies in communities in which we operate. The 3.1 million pounds of protein equates to 12 million meals for those in need.

Our local plants have also been doing amazing work donating protein directly to their communities. Our facility in New Holland, Penn. recently donated 27,000 pounds of protein to its local community during the Latin American Festival. In Sioux City, Iowa, we donated 80,000 pounds of poultry products to the Siouxland Food Bank, which supports over 100 hunger relief programs throughout the Siouxland community.

Each September, the Feeding America network of food banks works together to raise awareness and inspire action nationwide. The annual campaign helps people facing the impossible choice of hunger in the United States. Tyson Foods is dedicated to providing local families with nutritious, quality food and serving communities where its team members work, live, and play.

It’s a tough time for American families with inflation and economic uncertainty, and Tyson is dedicated to doing everything in our power to further our mission of feeding the world. Through protein donations, either to food banks or directly to individuals, we can ensure that communities in need have access to nutritious food.

Some of the spotlight donations during Hunger Action Month include:

• In partnership with H-E-B in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, Tyson donated 40,000 pounds to the North Texas Food Bank
• Tyson donated 80,000 pounds of protein to the Feeding America Foodbank of Siouxland
• Two donations totaling more than 68,000 pounds of protein to the Feeding American Foodbank of Eastern Oklahoma in Tulsa
• Two donations of more than 72,000 pounds of protein to the Feeding America Northwest Arkansas Food Bank
